Uhligites was named by Kilian (1913) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l K Vala-u]. Its type is Uhligites kraffti.

It was assigned to Streblitinae by Wright et al. (1996); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
