Yabeiceras was named by Tokunaga and Shimizu (1926) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni]. Its type is Yabeiceras orientale.

It was assigned to Barroisiceratinae by Kennedy and Wright (1983); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
