Cerithium (Thericium) burnsii
Taxonomy
Cerithium burnsii was named by Dall (1892). Its type specimen is USNM 113354, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 453 - Alum Bluff [Chipola Fm], which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
It was recombined as Cerithium (Ptychocerithium) burnsii by Cossmann (1906); it was recombined as Cerithium (Thericium) burnsii by Hoerle (1972).
