Taxonomy
Pygmaepterys pratulum was named by Vokes and D'Attilio (1980). Its type specimen is USNM 294290, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 546 - Tenmile Creek, which is in a Burdigalian marine marl/sandstone in the Chipola Formation of Florida.
