Taxonomy
Listroteuthis was named by Naef (1922) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 307]. It is not extant. Its type is Celaeno conica.

It was assigned to Celaenidae by Kretzoi (1942); to Kelaenidae by Jeletzky (1966); to Teuthida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Muensterellidae by Fuchs et al. (2019).
