Trachyteuthis is a genus. It is not extant. Its type is Sepia hastiformis. It is the type genus of Trachyteuthidae.

It was assigned to Teuthida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Trachyteuthididae by Jeletzky (1966), Engeser and Reitner (1985), Fuchs (2006), Fuchs and Larson (2011).
