Barbatia (Cucullaria) taeniata was named by Dall (1898) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Pleistocene; Western Atlantic.]. It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Taeniarca.
It was recombined as Barbatia (Calloarca) taeniata by DuBar (1958); it was recombined as Calloarca (Taeniarca) taeniata by Woodring (1973).
