Arca emarginata was named by Sowerby (1833). It is extant.

It was recombined as Anadara emarginata by Maury (1922); it was recombined as Anadara (Scapharca) emarginata by Reinhart (1943); it was recombined as Anadara (Rasia) emarginata by Woodring (1973).
