Pojetaia was named by Jell (1980) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-l Cm lMid]. It is not extant. Its type is Jellia elliptica.
It was assigned to Praenuculidae by Bengtson et al. (1990); to Radiidentoidei by Parkhaev (2001); to Nuculoida by Sepkoski (2002); to Fordillidae by Elicki and Gürsu (2009); and to Bivalvia by Nevesskaja (2009).
