Rhabdotites was named by Deflandre-Rigaud (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u J Oxfo Sepkoski's reference number: 687,960]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was assigned to Synaptidae by Deflandre-Rigaud (1952); to Stichopitidae by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962), Frizzell and Exline (1966), Garbowska and Wierzbowski (1967), Zawidzka (1971), Mostler (1972), Henderson et al. (1992), Krainer and Mostler (1997), Kalita et al. (2002); and to Aspidochirotida by Pawson (1966), Sepkoski (2002).
