Priscopedatus acutus was named by Mostler (1972). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kramach, Tirol, which is in a Jurassic carbonate limestone in Austria.
It was recombined as Praethyonidium acutum by Krainer and Mostler (1997).
