Arcoperna was named by Conard (1865) [Sepkoski's age data: K u T Eo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 700].

It was assigned to Crenellinae by Dockery (1982); to Mytilidae by Vokes (1980), Wienrich (1999); and to Mytiloida by Sepkoski (2002).
