Taxonomy
Achistrum brevis was named by Mostler (1971). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meadel Ditch Quarry, which is in a Kinderhookian offshore mudstone/limestone in the Rockford Limestone Formation of Indiana.
