Phantomosaurus neubigi
Taxonomy
Shastasaurus neubigi was named by Sander (1997). Its type specimen is BSP 1992 I 39, a partial skeleton (incomplete disarticulated skull and postcranium), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Karlstadt/Main, which is in an Anisian marine horizon in Germany. 
It was recombined as Phantomosaurus neubigi by Maisch and Matzke (2000), McGowan and Motani (2003), Maisch and Matzke (2006), Maisch (2010).
