Sanajeh was named by Wilson et al. (2010). It is not extant. Its type is Sanajeh indicus.
It was assigned to Madtsoiidae by Wilson et al. (2010), Mohabey et al. (2011), Longrich et al. (2012), Rio and Mannion (2017); and to Ophidia by Zaher et al. (2023).
