Taxonomy
Theelia alveata was named by Mostler and Rahimi-Yazd (1976). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kuh-e Ali Bashi, Jolfa, Julfa Formation, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine limestone/shale in the Julfa Formation of Iran.
