Taxonomy
Aucellina was named by Pompeckj (1901) [Sepkoski's age data: K Barr K Ceno Sepkoski's reference number: 1233]. Its type is Avicula gryphaeoides.

It was assigned to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); to Aucellinini by Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Buchiidae by Vokes (1980), Wild and Stilwell (2016).
