Costigervillia was named by Cox (1948) [Sepkoski's age data: J Bath J Kimm Sepkoski's reference number: 93]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Isognomonidae by Fischer (1969); to Bakevelliidae by Vokes (1980); and to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002).
