Taxonomy
Eocamptonectes was named by Newell (1969) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour P Djhu Sepkoski's reference number: 524,1058]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Deltopectinidae by Newell and Boyd (1995); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eocamptonectini by Waterhouse (2001), Bouchet et al. (2010).
