Taxonomy
Placunanomia was named by Broderip (1832) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi R]. It is extant. Its type is Placunanomia cumingii.
It was assigned to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); to Anomiidae by Woodring (1925), Olsson (1964), Olsson (1967), Vokes (1980), Moore (1987) and Hendy et al. (2008); and to Placunanomiinae by Bouchet et al. (2010).
