Trigonodus praelongus was named by Kiparisova (1937). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kyunyasi River, Kharaulakh Mountains, which is in a Longobardian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Janaija praelonga by Kurushin (1992).
