Taxonomy
Metalegoceras schucherti was named by Miller and Furnish (1940). Its type specimen is SUI 2023 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dugout Mountain, small hill 1 miles NE of crest, which is in an Artinskian carbonate limestone in the Skinner Ranch Formation of Texas.
