Taxonomy
Prionites involutus was named by Brühwiler et al. (2010). Its type specimen is PIMUZ 27671 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tulong Tu58, which is in a Smithian deep subtidal lime mudstone in the Tulong Formation of China.
