Taxonomy
Bottosaurus belgicus was named by Woodward (1891). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Craie de Ciply, Mons Basin, which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate sandstone in the Craie de Ciply Formation of Belgium.
It was recombined as Compressidens belgicus by Russell (1967); it was recombined as Carinodens belgicus by Thurmond (1969), Schulp et al. (2004), Schulp et al. (2006), Driscoll et al. (2019).
