Qianichthyosaurus zhoui
Taxonomy
Qianichthyosaurus zhoui was named by Li (1999). Its type specimen is IVPP V11839, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Huangtutang, which is in a Carnian marine horizon in the Falang Formation of China.

Li 1999 | Small ichthyosaur with the following combination of characters: snout short; premaxilla pointed, just reaching anterior edge of naris; supratemporal overlapping postorbital to enter border of orbit; tooth crown enamel without longitudinal striations; femur as long as, or longer than, humerus and distally expanded; three primary and one accessory digit in both front and hind limbs; notching present on both leading and trailing edge of flippers. |
