Taxonomy
Platypterygius kiprijanoffi was named by Romer (1968). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Kursk Region (Platypterygius kiprijanoffi type locality), which is in an Albian/Cenomanian marine sandstone in the Seversk Sandstone Formation of the Russian Federation.
