Heminajas was named by Wöhrmann (1891) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr l Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 94]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Myophoria (Heminajas) by Waagen (1907).

It was assigned to Myophoria by Waagen (1907); to Trigonioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Myophoriidae by Hautmann et al. (2013).
