Taxonomy
Natica cepacea was named by Lamarck (1804). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grignon (Lamarck collection), which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal sandstone/sandstone in France.
It was recombined as Cepatia cepacea by Eames (1952), Okan and Hosgor (2008).
