Taxonomy
Caucasites evolutus was named by Shevyrev (1968). Its type specimen is PIN 1477/89 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tkhach River, left source, Laboceras-Megaphyllites beds, which is in a Bithynian marine carbonate in the Acheshbok Formation of the Russian Federation.
