Taxonomy
Maitaia hurenensis was named by Biakov (1992). Its type specimen is SVPGO 16/1068, a valve (Right valve), and it is a cast. Its type locality is Levyy Titan Creek, Bed 39 coquina, Maitaia hurenensis Subzone, Okhotsk Massif, which is in a Wuchiapingian coastal sandstone in the Kulu Formation of the Russian Federation.
