Ophiceras gibbosum
Taxonomy
Trachyceras gibbosum was named by Griesbach (1880). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shalshal Cliff, Bed 2, Rimkin Paiar, which is in a Griesbachian offshore limestone in India.
It was recombined as Acanthophiceras gibbosum by Spath (1934), Wang and Chen (1979); it was synonymized subjectively with Ophiceras medium by Dai et al. (2019); it was recombined as Ophiceras gibbosum by Diener (1897), Welter (1922), Tozer (1981), Dai et al. (2023).
