Taxonomy
Stacheoceras mirificum was named by Zheng and Chen (1979). Its type specimen is NIGP 33924 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sancha River east IX P23F12-8, Dengke County, which is in a Wordian/Capitanian marine limestone in the Maokou Formation of China.
