Taxonomy
Eogymnotoceras transiens was named by Bucher (1988). Its type specimen is USNM 427264, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Favret Canyon HB 162, Augusta Mountains, which is in a Pelsonian marine limestone in the Favret Formation of Nevada.
