Taxonomy
Hunanella was named by Xiong and Wang (1979) [Sepkoski's age data: J l Sepkoski's reference number: ZR80]. It is not extant. Its type is Hunanella guanyintanensis.

It was reranked as Lilingella (Hunanella) by Liu and Chen (1981) and Fang et al. (2009).

It was assigned to Neomiodontidae by Xiong and Wang (1979); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lilingella by Liu and Chen (1981) and Fang et al. (2009).
