Taxonomy
Pachypleurosaurus staubi was named by Kuhn-Schnyder (1959). Its type specimen is Zurich A/III 254, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is near Bergün, which is in a Fassanian marine horizon in the Prosanto Formation of Switzerland.
