Axonoscincus sabatieri
Taxonomy
Axonoscincus sabatieri was named by Augé (2003). Its type specimen is MNHN PMT 37, a mandible (right dentary), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prémontré, which is in a MP 10 marginal marine sandstone in France. It is the type species of Axonoscincus.

| M. Augé 2003 | Le dentaire de Axonoscincus sabatieri n. gen., n. sp. montre un sulcus Meckeli rétréci à l’avant. Le bord ventral du dentaire présente une petite apophyse symphysaire. Sur la face labiale, il existe une légère dépression dorso-postérieure, d’extension très limitée. La dentition est homodonte, sans cuspide, forte, la base des dents s’élargissant assez nettement ; elle compte 20 dents. Le prémaxillaire est un os impair, à dentition symétrique. On compte sept dents avec une base légèrement élargie, la lame horizontale consiste en deux segments symétriques, inclinés et convergents vers la partie médiane de l’os. Il n’y a pas de processus incisifs sur le prémaxillaire. |
