Taxonomy
Plagiosternum pulcherrimum was named by Fraas (1913). Its type specimen is SMNS 12592, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Gerrothorax pulcherrimus by Kuhn (1971), Jenkins et al. (2008), Schoch and Milner (2014).
