Taxonomy
Stenopora nigris was named by Crockford (1943). Its type specimen is Sydney Univ 2444 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Black Head, Gerringong (USNM coll), which is in a Wordian marine sandstone in the Gerringong Formation of Australia.
