Taxonomy
Cathayspirina magna was named by Tazawa (2009). Its type specimen is KMNH IvP 700018, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Hinaga, Omine Town, Mine-Shi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, which is in a Capitanian marine mudstone/limestone in the Tsunemori Formation of Japan.
