Taxonomy
Stenopora rugosa was named by Crockford (1945). Its type specimen is Sydney Univ 414 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Branxton west railway cutting, which is in a Roadian offshore shale in the Branxton Formation of Australia.
