Ceratites eichwaldi was named by Keyserling (1845).

It was recombined as Sibirites eichwaldi by Spath (1934), Kummel (1969), Bychkov et al. (1976), Zakharov (1978), Guo (1982), Dagis and Ermakova (1988), Dagis et al. (1996).
