Bakevellia (Maizuria) nelegerensis was named by Kurushin (1996). Its type specimen is IGiG 955/3, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Neleger River, kharaulakhensis zone, lower Lena River, which is in a Bithynian marine siliciclastic in the Russian Federation.
