Taxonomy
Stacheoceras giganteum was named by Ehiro (2006). Its type specimen is IGPS 109698 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ishihama coast, locality 3, Miyagi Prefecture, which is in a Wuchiapingian offshore shale in the Suenosaki Formation of Japan.
