Taxonomy
Pleurotomaria discoidea was named by Girty (1909). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 2926 green, Capitan Peak, Guadalupe Mountains, which is in a Capitanian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Capitan Formation of Texas.
