Taxonomy
Megarhynchus ornatum was named by Gemmellaro (1896). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pietra di Salomone, calcare tenero, Sosio, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Gemmellaroia ornata by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960).
