Taxonomy
Tetraspongia balmensis was named by Termier and Termier (1989) [in Masse, Termier, Termier (1989)]. It is not extant. Its type locality is Saint-Pons, Sainte-Baume Massif, which is in an Albian marine limestone in France. It is the type species of Tetraspongia.
