Taxonomy
Calyptraea antiqua was named by Howse (1848). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tunstall Hill, Durham (Howse collection), which is in a Wuchiapingian perireef or subreef grainstone in the Ford Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Chitonellus antiquus by Kirkby (1859), Geinitz (1861); it was recombined as Diadeloplax antiqua by Hoare and Mapes (2000).
