Orthis scabrosa was named by Davidson (1847). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Leptaena scabrosa by Davidson (1848); it was recombined as Strophomena scabrosa by Bancroft (1949); it was recombined as Katastrophomena scabrosa by Bassett and Cocks (1974).
