Crocodylus porosus was named by Schneider (1801). It is extant.

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

Synonyms
  • Crocodylus nathani was named by Longman (1924). Its type specimen is QM F1513 (lectotype), a mandible (Anterior part of left dentary), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tara Creek, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial horizon in Australia.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Crocodylus porosus by Molnar (1982).
