Baurusuchus albertoi

Taxonomy
Baurusuchus albertoi was named by Nascimento and Zaher (2010). Its type specimen is MZSP-PV 140, a partial skeleton (right posterior portion of a skull with mandible, part of the hyoid apparatus, a complete postcranium lacking only the 12th, 17th, and terminal caudal vertebrae), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Boa Esperança farm, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian fluvial sandstone in the Adamantina Formation of Brazil.

Zaher 2010Jugal with a triangular and rugose ventrolateral projection in the anterior portion, more ventrally developed than in other Baurusuchidae; jugal infratemporal bar dorsoventrally slender, and anteroposteriorly as long as the inferior edge of the orbit; retroarticular process lateromedially flattened and vertically oriented, with a posterodorsal expansion; lateral projection of the vertical portion of the squamosal posteriorly concave; well developed ventromedial crest of the quadrate, dividing the descendent body of the quadrate in medial and anterior surfaces.
